GEJ may halt the introduction of N5,000 notes

President Goodluck Jonathan has agreed to put on hold the plan to introduce the 5000 naira note. The President met with the leadership of the National Assembly after the sessions of the Senate and House of Representatives on Tuesday and the vexed issue of N5000, which the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) intended to unveil next year was one of the top issues on the agenda. Sources said that Jonathan told the lawmakers that approval given on the N5000 note could be reversed if it was the wish of the people. However, it was not immediately known if the President had directed the CBN to suspend action on the currency restructuring. It remains unclear whether the president has issued a directive to that effect.  THE SUN

Sexual Purity

These tips are for singles who take sexual purity seriously and want to commit to God, themselves and their future spouse. Be sure you and your boyfriend are on the same page when it comes to being sexually pure. We don’t believe only the girl in a relationship should be concerned about being sexually pure, both the guy and girl are to be held to the same standards, God's standards. What does sexual purity and sexual sin mean to both of you. Read verses in the bible that talk about sexual immorality and discuss them. Make sure you do this early in the relationship before your emotions start raging high (at this point it will be hard to make any reasonable decisions). If you realise you are both on different pages, then it might be worth reevaluating the purpose of that relationship. Our advice is that you going into a relationship with a fellow christian who is on the same page as you . This will make it easier to overcome sexual sin. Write out your standards and...

Muslim Youths in Northern Nigerian crucify a cat to mock Christianity

This is appalling to say the least. These young ones should seek higher knowledge and make a commitment to their future instead of basking in ignorance and celebrating its humiliating power.I feel they are trying to retaliate in their own way,the controversial movie,"THE INNOCENCE OF MUSLIMS",which has sparked off unnecessary violence in the Middle East recently. For all I care, the Producer of that video may not even be a christian.I wish we could shun violence and just give peace a chance. To me as a christian this means absolutely nothing to me,I only pity the poor cat and the boys too:TOTAL IGNORANCE KILLS TOTALLY.In the western world they could be jailed for abusing an animal so. Anyway,ka Chineke mezie okwu...

History,Tribe and Religion-major stumbling blocks for Nigeria says Kuffor

Speaking at a lecture as part of events preparatory to Nigeria’s 52nd Independence anniversary at the Foreign Affairs Auditorium, Abuja, on Tuesday,f ormer Ghanaian President, John Kuffour said ,“Nigeria has every asset it should need to evolve into a strong, stable and prosperous state with powerful strategic influence spanning the entire continent of Africa and beyond".“History, tribe and religion seem to have conspired to put major stumbling blocks in the path of this destiny “The hydrocarbon wealth, the populous market, fertile lands, resourceful, confident and venturesome individuals in finance, business, industry and telecommunications and the articulate and intelligent citizenry are acknowledged globally as some of the assets of the country,” He urged Nigerian leaders to make sacrifices in order to overcome the obstacles drawing the country backward and provide the leadership for Africa’s advancement.

Victory and Losses for JTF and Terrorists

Two days ago,Nigerian military and the SSS released a statement of how that they captured some members of boko haram during a gun battle and killed Abu Qaqa,a man believed to be the spokesman and media co-coordinator of the boko haram sect. Just yesterday, the military Joint Task Force launched a successful operation at the group's command and control center in Kano and to a large extent crippled the operational capability of the sect in Kano. On the heels of these seeming victories for the Nigerian security, gunmen believed to be members of the boko haram sect attacked and killed Borno State Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Mr Zannah Mallam Gana in his home town Bama. Also, a former Comptroller General of the Nigerian Prisons, Jarma Katagun, died yesterday from gunshot wounds inflicted on him in an attack by members of the Boko Haram sect.  Meanwhile,a teenager has been arrested as the apparent culprit in an arson fire at the home of former Comptroller Genera...

Privat Jet Ownership trendy for wealthy Nigerians

It's no news that private jet ownership in Nigeria  has grown and is still growing. From businessmen,to bankers,to pastors, who even acquire more than one.I personally do not know for what reason a person will acquire a jet,let alone more than one when there is so much poverty in the world we live, especially in a country like Nigeria where many people live below one dollar per day. Aviation sources reveal that the luxury trend, which rose by 650 per cent between 2007 and 2012, is encouraged among the rich by the need for privacy, fear of insecurity and the urgency required by modern business. Private jet ownership in Nigeria has grown by 650 per cent, from 20 jets in 2007 to over 150 jets in 2012. According to documents sighted in aviation agencies, the development means that wealthy Nigerians acquired, at least, 130 private jets with a sum of N1.02tn ($6.5bn) within the last five years...shiooo.for why naa?.As in so much money wasted and people die everyday because they...

FG set to review penalties for national flag abuse

#wrong# Can you believe that the initial punishment for abusers of the national flag was N100?. It was converted from the former 58 pounds before naira lost its value.Anyway, the FG is set to reviewthe section of the constitution stating the penalties for abusers of the national flag. The National Orientation Agency has noted that the coat of arms or any logo at all is not part of the national flag and so should never be displayed outside.President Goodluck Jonathan recently directed the NOA to take urgent measures to standardise and popularise the correct shape and colours of the national flag. Let's do the right... #Right#

Talented Actress Ngozi Nwosu bedridden

Flood wrecks havoc in Nigeria

It's not like flooding is particularly new to Naija o but this year 2012,the number of recorded deaths and damage of properties worth millions of Naira caused by flood is alarming.East,West,South and even dry North are all battling flooding.Just this past weekend in a community in Nsukka ,Enugu State, the flooding, submerged and collapsed markets, schools, churches as well as residential houses, and also left over 200 persons homeless.Over 100 people have lost their lives nationwide and even more rendered homeless. The FG and state governments are trying their best but really who fights nature?Prevention is better than cure. The Rivers Niger and Benue are overflowing their banks and people living close to water have been warned to vacate their homes. For their sakes,I hope they do so asap.

Give me a divorce or I commit suicide!

Marriage is said to be a sacred institution ordained by Almighty God himself. It was honourable to marry(still very much is in Naija anyway) anywhere in the world.People married for genuine reasons;love, companionship, maturity, etc. These days, the case is so different and frighteningly so.I keep wondering why people go into marriage. For love or companionship?Well, there sure would be a few who would get it right but sadly with the increase in divorce cases,it seems people marry for shallow reasons. Love is unbreakable, that I know so I wonder what love bound the couple in the first place.Today people marry for reasons as disheartening as money, sex, beauty, peer pressure, societal opinion...mhnnn age(well,I think this one counts o or whatdyathink?) Now,a man petitioned an Ikeja Customary court for the third time to grant him a divorce after two failed attempts to divorce his wife.He threatened that if he continued living with the woman he would commit suicide. All pleas to let his marriage li...

Long fuel queues return to Abuja

Its simply worrisome, the long queues are unbelievable.I hear NUPENG stopped tanker drivers from entering the city. The chaos this development is causing is better imagined. My usual 15 minutes drive to work, today was redefined as it took me almost two hours to get to my office. The traffic jam was impenetrable for hours.Motorists were stranded until some men in Police uniform saved the day. Most frustrating situation.Who starts off a day like that and gives the best?... FG,NUPENG and o ye MARKETERS please quickly reach a compromise. The Federal government published figures that about N259 billion has been paid to oil marketers between 2011 and 2012 and N34.6 billion of that amount was just paid on Wednesday August 22 2012.Oil marketers are yet to deny this. This fuel thing has its associated problems for the Nigerian society, every other thing seems to be affected once there is fuel crises like culminating into a vicious cycle.abeg na beg we dey beg

Dame Patience Jonathan's controversial state of health

Some say she ate food poison in Dubai, others say she was diagnosed of ruptured appendicitis in a German hospital after she was flown out of Nigeria last week.News has it that she has already undergone surgery to remove the appendix and is recuperating now. However, the presidency insists that the first lady simply travelled out for some moment's rest following her doctor's advice.Whichever is true,I wish our Dame Pepe well..
