Marriage is said to be a sacred institution ordained by Almighty God himself. It was honourable to marry(still very much is in Naija anyway) anywhere in the world.People married for genuine reasons;love, companionship, maturity, etc. These days, the case is so different and frighteningly so.I keep wondering why people go into marriage. For love or companionship?Well, there sure would be a few who would get it right but sadly with the increase in divorce cases,it seems people marry for shallow reasons.
Love is unbreakable, that I know so I wonder what love bound the couple in the first place.Today people marry for reasons as disheartening as money, sex, beauty, peer pressure, societal opinion...mhnnn age(well,I think this one counts o or whatdyathink?)
Now,a man petitioned an Ikeja Customary court for the third time to grant him a divorce after two failed attempts to divorce his wife.He threatened that if he continued living with the woman he would commit suicide. All pleas to let his marriage live fell on deaf ears.He desired to either kill the marriage or himself.Which is more acceptable? What could have happened?Where did they get it wrong?
