The God in Oprah!

I listened to this woman yesterday, share her life story which I had read many times and to say I was inspired,is simply to put it most mildly. She remembered how she was born by an unwed teenage mother who had no connection with her.She said nothing was lucky about her life and she stressed that her life is all about grace, many blessings and divine order!. She painted a picture of how many of us would have been born to expectant happy parents who welcomed us and gave us the best and yet we live pitiful lives. She recounted her story with tear filled eyes and maintained that if she could be this unworthy and still be blessed by grace, then you and I should be more blessed because we are worthy!. These,to me are sacred words that rode home to my soul to settle forever. Once upon a time,I wanted so much to be like Oprah until I heard a story about her being an atheist.I was so disappointed that I stopped following her life events. How fulfilling it was for me to hear her emphatically s...

Dear Pissed Single Girl-Letter from a married woman

And here is a response from a married woman:  Dear spinster (Aka pissed single girl),If you truly value marriage and plan to have yours one day then the excuse that you were lured or enticed to follow a married man is not an excuse. The fact is that you have no morals or respect for your body or even the marriage you so desire to have one day. I am not an IG or twitter or even whatever social media platform person and do not encourage these married ladies to use it let alone pass any silly message through it to anyone be it single or married. Marriage is not a joke so do not come to the public and put your marriage under unnecessary scrutiny. And yes like the single lady said deal with your man and stop blaming anyone.

Dear Married Woman....Letter from a pissed Single Girl

This letter is trending on the internet and I thought to share:  Dear Married Woman, These couple of days I have read messages on Instagram, Twitter, Facebook and the likes and as much as I have tried to bridle my tongue and not say anything; just let it slide, my emotion has chosen to betray me. So today I stand in defence of all unjustly stigmatised Single ladies. To you married woman who has taken to the social media to air her grievances, please re-direct your energy into bridling your erring husband.  More than half of the time, these men are the ones who pursue single girls unrelentingly, luring them with the worldly goodies the Good Lord has bequeathed on them. And let me let you know what you’d never hear from your husband, they speak ill of you. Half the time, the reason they are still with you is because of our own conscious effort not to break another girl’s home as we look forward to having ours.

Kudos to Lola Okoye

Call it IG rant,I call it the essence of a genuine woman, confident in her being..."I didn't really send this babe before now,but wo,I haff shange ma mind walahi!". Lola writes: “Good morning my beautiful people. Let me share some of my thoughts with you…Whilst some of you are busy losing sleep over someone else’s successes whether it be professional or personal, I am busy celebrating the successes of my fellow woman folk!  While you are busy tearing a woman down for being aesthetically more appealing than you think you are to the man folk, l am busy giving that woman a thumbs up for adding more colour to the woman folk.  You see I am confident and grounded and i do not need to bring another down to feel more beautiful; unlike a lot of you who hide behind your smart phones and fake IG profiles just so that you can show us how sick you are by riping another person apart in hopes that you break that person…..God is watching you o!  My sisters an...

Being the Nigerian woman

Post written by Joy Isi Bewaji. Do you agree, guys? The Nigerian woman is a peculiar being… To be a Nigerian woman, you can’t get too angry. You’ll never be able to get rid of that label no matter how many smiles and triumphs follow after that one time you matched a subordinate’s disrespect word-for-word once you got fed up of hearing him say, “I have a wife like you at home, you know!” From that day forward, you shall henceforth be labelled “the angry black woman” who is perpetually  embittered with the world. When people hurt you, you are expected to smile, wish God’s love upon their lives and take the whole episode in with warmth and calm. No more. If you are robbed, raped,  accused falsely… if an Ex throws the word “slut” in your face, you cower, you cry, you call him and ask “why?”. You do not throw back the words- “dickhead” and “cunt neophyte”, no! None of that. You pray for him and you walk around quietly so as not to disturb the peace of th...

Positive Communication...

This is by Jimmy Evans...Inspiring! If your marriage is like most, it began with good communication. You got to know one another by spending time together. You talked and talked and talked. Communication is the essential element to every great marriage. Getting to know another human being requires talking. It's how we fall in love. It's how we understand another person's heart. It's how we resolve problems and discuss needs. It's so important. It's also important that those words be encouraging. That's what happens early in a relationship, right? Your speech is filled with kindness, praise, and compliments. Without positive ...

No age limit...

I have always loved writing...just about anything. As a child,I remember drawing and forging stories of the characters that I drew.I made a little book for my stories and I carried it anywhere. My dad was so impressed with it and he encouraged me.He sang my praises daily but it wasn't long and I lost dad.I don't think I lost the passion to write too because I continued writing,I missed the cheering on,the praises I got from my father. It's more like knowing your effort may never be appreciated again since the only one who seemed to appreciate it was no more. Parents must do a great work of watching their children closely and understanding their strength. This is often said by almost every adult I know, yet, some children become adults feeling frustrated that they missed out on discovering their full potential.I particularly think that beyond parents doing what they have to do,individuals should take responsibility for their lives. You are as old as you believe. It is never to...

8 Things every woman desperately wants

Someone once said 'To generalize on women is dangerous. To specialize on them is infinitely worse'. I saw this piece online,I think it's fab and so I thought to share with you. Well, what women want still remains the unanswered question across the globe. However, men needn't lose hope for all is not lost. There are still a good number of things that most women like. Here are a few from the long list which can perhaps help you make her fall head over heels in love with you. Take your pick to woo and sweep her off her feet!   Superman: Women love to be protected. So show in more ways than one to prove that you will be her saviour should your damsel land in distress! Women are always in awe of men who can step up in times of conflicts. Be sure you grab every opportunity that situation throws at you.   Smell good: Deodorant Ads may be going overboard showing men being lured by women's perfume. But the other way is also true. Choose a deo tha...

BBC reports say Senegalese Prime Minister Aminata Toure sacked

Local officials said President Macky Sall had asked Ms Toure to stand down, after less than a year in office. Ms Toure's Alliance for the Republic (APR) was defeated in key cities, according to preliminary results. Discontent over economic policies contributed to the party's poor results, correspondents say. "She was sacked. She is no longer the prime minister," a source close to the presidency told Reuters news agency. Her departure opens the way for President Sall to try to speed up his reform process, aimed at creating more jobs. The Senegalese Press Agency reported that Ms Toure had left the government. In March 2012, election Mr Sall defeated Abdoulaye Wade - who had been president for 12 years - promising to tackle poverty and corruption. Senegal is seen as a beacon of democracy in West Africa and remains the region's only country never to have had a military coup.
