What is it about men and ego?

Believe it or not,as I meet more and more guys everyday I find out that a good number of young men battle with ego. They continually mistake ego for self respect.I t is important that every human being should have a measure of respect for himself/herself.In fact it is mandatory because in reality, you would only be respected when you respect yourself.
I meet young single men who do not know the importance of sorry, thank you, please etc.It is to say the least appalling.I always go like are you serious?Of course they don't even think their actions are wrong and oh!,God help you if you ever tried to point it out.He would argue why he didn't need to use the word.Ego has so punished guys eh...*laughs*.At times it is a mixed feeling the situation leaves me with.A full grown man is always ever concerned about himself and not sensitive to other peoples feelings.

Take for example,a guy meets a lady he fancies and decides to ask her on a date or whatever you may call it and for reasons best known to the young lady she turns down the offer and he persists and she turns him down and he still persists and yet she turns him down and then, feeling he has tried enough to please her and she wouldn't submit to his will,he decides to become angry and drop the feelings he thought he had for her but simply get back at her.He pulls every string to get her eating from his palm just to stroke his ego and then dumps her like a pack of card so that she gets the same feeling he supposedly felt. How sad that an independent minded grown man should think of such derogatory manner to solve his emotional illusion.Did it not occur to him that just like he has taste, the young lady may have her own taste too and he just may not taste nice to her.Why force someone to love you?If you respect yourself really, you would rather go for someone who would respect you and regard your feelings. Why trade your self esteem for pride?I mean must it always be about you?Do people no longer have the right to choose who to hang out with?Oh my gosh!...

I steadily concluded that immaturity fans the flame of ego in a man.A real man is in control of his emotions and so guides his actions aright. He is not hasty in decision making and he doesn't degrade himself for temporary pleasure ride of revenge.EHHH!Was that what happened to you?...eyaaa!.I hear you.The scenario I painted mustn't happen to me or anyone I know to be related to as part of our reality today. It hasn't happened to me but I over heard guys discussing this and my heart bled.I lost my respect for them instantly. These are would be husbands, fathers etc. What would they teach their children about love, morals and goodness?Just wondering...

Really?are you serious Amanda? Please I wouldn't want you to make a general claim here. Not all single guys have ego problem and some married men still have ego issues.I appreciate that you feel bad about what the guys said anyway. It is totally unnecessary.

The Empowered woman

I think being a woman,I mean a real woman is one of the hardest things ever!. You won't agree with this only if you are not a woman, but if you are a woman, then congratulations to you.You are a mysterious being but then again this congratulation goes to the 'real woman'. The real woman is that person that makes everything difficult seem easy. She is a hard worker, faithful friend and partner,a good manager,a home maker,a lover,a confidant,a mother,a sister,a daughter,a visioneer...Someone,may say,"Yea, ok...I'm not a mother or I'm single and so does that make me not a real woman?Of course not!. Age,class, status, beauty or achievements do not define a real woman, but character does. I can't but wonder at the stories we hear these days about women.I marvel at the rate of evil perpetuated by women in our society.Prostitution is old wives tale but when women are involved in armed robbery, kidnappings, terrorism, gang rape, adultery, fraud to mention a few, then by a...

The Career Woman

I stumbled upon this beautiful article on IFP while researching on other stuff and thought to share it. It's a 4 minutes read. I totally agree with it. Gender equality seems to be the one issue that isn't going away. Many of us like to believe sexism is something that only plagued the workplaces of yesteryear, but unfortunately it still exists. Don't believe us? Well, in 2016 just 57% of the world's  working-age women  were in employment, compared to 70% of their male counterparts. And even the females who were in work were struggling to catch up with the men. Women with  full-time jobs  still earn only about 77% of their male counterparts' earnings. Of course, the issue is complex and many expect that because most countries have made it illegal to pay women less than men, that gender inequality has fixed itself. However, problems surrounding  unconscious bias , parental leave, and outdated stereotypes about gender roles persist in the workplace. But what are th...

Domestic Voilence in Nigeria heightens in the face of economic hardship-majority of victims are women!

A recent Public Opinion poll conducted by NOIPolls Limited in partnership with Project Alert on domestic violence has revealed an increasing prevalence of domestic violence across Nigeria in recent times as reported by about 8 in 10 (78 percent) respondents. This prevalence is highest in the South-West geo-political zone (86 percent) and lowest in the South-South zone (70 percent). More findings revealed that 54 percent of Nigerians have suffered a form of domestic violence or know someone that has experienced domestic violence in their homes with majority of the victims being women as stated by 75 percent of respondents. Just this week, a man in Aba Abia state allegedly beat his wife into coma for lying to him that she has not been paid her salary after commissioner for finance Obinna Oriaku mis-informed the Abia public on radio that civil servants salary arrears have been paid.
