Pamela Coke-Hamilton is the new head of International Trade Centre


Pamela Coke-Hamilton of Jamaica has been appointed as the eight Executive Director of the International Trade Centre (ITC), the joint agency of the 

She succeeds Arancha González Laya of Spain to whom the Secretary-General António Guterres has expressed appreciation for her dedicated service to the Organization.

As the current Director of the Division on International Trade and Commodities at UNCTAD, Ms. Coke-Hamilton brings a breadth of experience and expertise in trade-related capacity-building and sustainable development, having served with the Jamaican Government, the Caribbean Forum (CARIFORUM) Member States in trade negotiations and multilateral institutions, including the 

She brings a deep understanding of the challenges faced by vulnerable economies such as the Small Island Developing States (SIDS) and the Least Developed Countries (LDCs) having designed tailored interventions. She has worked extensively with the private sector across the African Caribbean and Pacific countries as well as with universities and academia to build trade-related institutional strength within Member States. As a strong proponent of gender equality and mainstreaming in trade, she established the 

Ms. Coke-Hamilton will be leading the organization at a pivotal moment given the catastrophic impact that the COVID-19 pandemic has unleashed on the global trading system, particularly on MSMEs in developing countries, with ITC required to play a vital role in assisting in building stronger and more resilient businesses and countries.

She holds a Juris Doctor in Law from Georgetown University and an undergraduate degree in International Relations from the University of the West Indies. She is fluent in English, advanced in French with a working knowledge of Spanish.

The Career Woman

I stumbled upon this beautiful article on IFP while researching on other stuff and thought to share it. It's a 4 minutes read. I totally agree with it. Gender equality seems to be the one issue that isn't going away. Many of us like to believe sexism is something that only plagued the workplaces of yesteryear, but unfortunately it still exists. Don't believe us? Well, in 2016 just 57% of the world's  working-age women  were in employment, compared to 70% of their male counterparts. And even the females who were in work were struggling to catch up with the men. Women with  full-time jobs  still earn only about 77% of their male counterparts' earnings. How can we share love in a world void of love?

As each day passes,I see that so many people do not understand what sharing love is all about.Just last night,I saw a man,not a boy.I mean a full fledged man beating up a lady just by the roadside as if she were some common thief.On inquiry,I discovered she was his girlfriend.Did I hear you say,what?!!!.mhnnn...the feeling is mutual,but come to think of it,he may have had a reason which he felt was good enough to beat her up.Someone may say no reason is good enough...chapter closed.
