Like a story out of a bestseller, Lena Henderson and Roland Davis are set to remarry, 50 years after they divorced. The Buffalo News reports that the Seneca, New York pair married as teenagers and were together for 20 years before they divorced in 1964 after four children together. The Buffalo couple met in Chattanooga, Tennessee back when they were teens. One of those children – their oldest daughter, Johnnie Mae Funderbirk – is a big reason they’re back together, the report said. Funderbirk encouraged her father to move from Colorado back to New York after his second wife died a few months ago, where she hoped he would reconnect with her mother. The couple never lost touch during their 50 years apart, frequently talking on the phone (Henderson had even counselled Davis’ then-new wife on how to deal with him). Saharareporters reports: Suspected militants have attacked the family home of Vice President Namadi Sambo on Baba Ahmed Road in  Tudun Wada area of Zaria, Kaduna state. Eyewitnesses told Saharareporters that gunmen drove by the house and shot at two policemen guarding the house. The policemen reportedly survived the attack. The gunmen fled the scene after the attack. Meanwhile rumors have it that two police stations in Sokoto were attacked by Boko haram this morning killing some policemen and destroying part of the police stations. This is becoming a very worrisome trend.Nigerians condemn these violent attacks in totality.

The purpose of the summit is to reflect and seek ways to end violence and conflicts in Africa.Dame Patience Jonathan,the chairperson of the African First Ladies Summit stressed that African women cannot continue to sit in their comfort zones and do nothing about the violent situation which has become overwhelming for the African continent as a whole.Dame patience Jonathan welcomed all first ladies and participants present in Abuja for the 7th African First Ladies Summit and in her usual manner she starts her welcome address with "Her Excellency,my dear husband...". Meanwhile the President of Malawi,Joyce Banda in her keynote address, urged African First ladies to develop mechanisms to support women reach high level parliamentary positions.She noted that politics in Africa is not cheap,especially for women,"It is an expensive undertaking,women need money not training".She said.

Producers of a musical based on the life of Motown Records founder Berry Gordy are seeking an exceptionally talented young actor — one who can play a preteen Gordy, a young Michael Jackson and a precocious Stevie Wonder . Gordy launched an audition website on Tuesday to help find the young man between the ages of 8 and 11 who can sing, dance and act like the King of Pop in his Jackson 5 days and Wonder at about age 11. Syria's state-run TV says the country's defense minister,Daoud Rajha, has been killed in a suicide blast in the capital. Wednesday's attack struck the National Security building in Damascus during a meeting of Cabinet ministers and senior security officials. State-run TV said some of the officials were seriously wounded and later reported the defense minister killed. The capital has seen four straight days of clashes pitting government troops against rebels, who are trying to bring down the regime by force. The fighting is an unprecedented challenge to government rule in President Bashar Assad 's seat of power.

The  Federal Road Safety Commission (FRSC), said that 95 have been killed and 15 injured,  from the tanker explosion that occurred in Ahoada Local Government Area of Rivers State. The FRSC stated that the petrol-carrying tanker crashed with three other vehicles, 11 km from Ahoada-Mbiama on the east-west road in Rivers. According to the Rivers Sector Commander of FRSC, the tanker did not immediately burst into flames, and as a result, people scrambled for ``free fuel’’. ``People were scooping fuel from the tanker when it exploded, casualty figures definitely high, and about 20 injured persons already taken to the hospitals.Thirty-four motor-cycles also got burnt,’’ he said. He added that FRSC,  police, fire fighters and the Joint Task Force were already at the scene.

JUSTICE Aloma Mariam Mukhtar indeed has been a trailblazer for Nigerian women on the Bench in many respects. Before her nominations as the new Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN) by President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan, which will make her become the first female CJN, Justice Mukhtar has always scored firsts. Mukhtar, who hails from Kano State, started her law career in 1967. She is the first female judge to be appointed to the Supreme Court on June 8, 2005. Kourtney Kardashian one of the Kardashians Reality television stars gave birth to a second child on Sunday July 8th – a baby daughter named Penelope Scotland . The girl,  was born early Sunday in Los Angeles at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center. The 33-year-old mother and her partner, Scott Disick , already have a son, Mason. “Scott and I are overjoyed to welcome our precious angel Penelope Scotland  into our lives. Popular Abuja Apostle Basil Princewill a pastor of a new generation church in Abuja was yesterday arraigned before an Abuja Chief Magistrate Court, Karu for allegedly molesting young female members. Pastor Basil Princewill , the General Overseer of the Mountain Movers Fire Ministries International, Nyanya, Abuja was arraigned by the Commissioner of Police, FCT command alongside  Ms Paulyn Ode , the church coordinator on charges of conspiracy, criminal impersonation, criminal intimidation, and criminal force and assault. Magistrate  Ahmed Shuaibu  ruled in favour of the defence and granted bail to the accused persons in the sum of N2 million and two sureties in like sum. The sureties, the judge said, must be civil servants of no less than Grade Level 15 and must have a property in Abuja valued at not less than N5 million.

POLICE in Rivers State have tracked down a syndicate that specialised in selling new babies.Reports say the Police arrested a husband and his wife involved in the illicit trade. He said the two specialised in kidnapping girls and arranging for them to get pregnant, while they would hide the pregnant girls in their custody until they delivered. Police said the suspects confessed that as soon as the girls deliver, they would sell the babies. They couple are Chigozie John and his wife, Akwarama .Police rescued three pregnant women held as captives in the suspects place somewhere in Akpajo. “On interrogation, the husband and wife confessed to the offence of trafficking in new babies and further admitted that the three pregnant women found in their house were procured to deliver babies that would be sold as soon as they were delivered of their babies.” One day,one horrible news!

He is a business man, distributor, motivator and above all Covenant University’s best graduating student. As Wukeh Egem-Odey, read out his valedictory speech, the crowd could not help but cheer the young man, who beat 1, 338 other graduating students of CU. He scored a CGPA of 4.89 out of a possible 5.0 to bag a first class degree in accountancy.
