The Career Woman: Computer Skills that can make you marketable.

    We know skills vary from  job to job,  but getting a computer skill is definitely not negotiable, hence while thinking of what computer skill to adopt, below are  some basic skills in computer, that you can consider, these skills can get you hired and boost your chances of getting a promotion. 
*MICROSOFT WORD:  Having a basic knowledge on files keeping is good but going further to learn  mail merges, documents formating, macro scripts  alternating and other advanced functions will give one an edge in the market world. A certification in Microsoft Office programs can also accelerate your promotion or hiring .

*POWERPOINT:
Ability to conduct dynamic presentations on slides will give a potential employee an edge in the hiring process. Moreso, the  ability to prepare materials for bosses and colleagues cannot be overemphasized.

* QUICKBOOKS: If you are into accounting, payroll, invoicing, reporting and more, a working knowledge of QuickBooks is definitely an asset.

*EMAIL:  E-mail has become  part of our personal and professional lives, Individuals who can use E-mails to perform advanced functions with email programs like Microsoft Outlook can increase office productivity.

*WEB AND SOCIAL MEDIA
A good mastery of tools like content management systems, Dreamweaver,
HTML, WordPress and Java will  make workers or prospective Employees attractive to employers. Moreso, Candidates who understand how to leverage on social media to advertise  their organizations are considered good assets.

*GRAPHIC AND WRITING SKILLS:
A good knowledge of Photoshop, social Design and Illustrators on organisations'  websites, Writing skills are also important for many modern jobs.
 A good way to advertise your Skills is to attach it to your Job Applications and Curriculum vitae. Choose a column where you will highlight the skills you have that are beneficial to the positions being applied for. This is a way of matching your qualifications to a job description.
