Career Today: Work Ethics that should be Adopted


    
    
        Every employer expects his employee to have passion for his/her job and to increase their market ability but this can be better done if the employee develops a better work ethic throughout out his/her career.
     Work Ethics refers to a general set of values centered on the importance of work in individual's field to enhance the character of the workers. Work Ethics can be positive or negative, a positive work ethic is seen when:
. A worker displays the ability to focus on activities where he or she is skillful in order to make a difference based on the objective  of the organization
. An employee spends time on work and building oneself up for the task given
. A worker desires to do a task well by being vigilant and organized
. An employee embraces positivism even in the phase of challenges at the work place
. When a worker creates a rewarding system/ routine that leads to ultimate goals or success 
 A negative work ethic is a behavior that leads to unproductivity, reliability and unprofessionalism. To get a high quality work  which is consistent, these Positive work ethics should be imbibed
. Reliability: ability to Meet deadlines and offer quality work
. Dedication: Ability to focus on tasks
. Discipline: They strive to meet or exceed expectations
. Productivity: Ability to complete projects early and do more than the minimum requirements
. Cooperation: They show good team work and readily assist others
. Integrity: Ability to be honest, polite and fair to others
. Responsibility: Ability to accept the blame for errors they have contributed
. Professionalism: Ability to be respectful, focused, organised and neat. It is important to have a good work ethic because it:
. Ensures a positive ambience at the work place
. It leads to a happy and satisfied employee
. It helps workers develop a sense  of loyalty
. It improves job performance
. It helps in promoting a raise or in career advancement
   Positive Work Ethics is not innate, expected from both Employees and Employers to achieve maximum results can be developed by:
.Making professionalism  top priorities in the market place especially in an organization
. Always ask for clarification if you do not understand the concepts
. Participate in any or all ethics training seminars
. create a work life balance
