What do we really mean?

A few days ago I sat watching the Monique show on BET and she reminded of a whole lot of stuff and seriously those reminders inspired me to ask you this question;what do we really mean?I mean like what do you really mean when you use some words, exclamation, expressions?:

Oh My God!
Yea,"oh my God" is like an everyday expression for us all. Now,exactly what do you mean when you call God?I do that unconsciously.someone might say,oh but almost everyone uses that expression another might quickly add.I still ask why do you really use that expression.A funny friend of mine once told a story about a young girl who just left church and went to her married lover's hotel room to chill out. While they were at 'it',she kept moaning "oh my God' but the man was very uncomfortable with her choice of words being that it was a sunday and it was not as if they were worshipping God anyway, besides she just left from church straight to his hotel room.Egwu apuo umuaka n'anya bikonu. In your case, when do you use Oh my God?!

Can I be Honest with you?
Can you be honest with me?Seriously...like are you for real? What have you been doing all the while, lying? There are expressions that we just shouldn't use.Little wonder some of us are misunderstood most of the time. It's not funny...can I be honest with you?Are you confiding in me or deciding to tell the truth henceforth? What exactly do you mean?.Don't confuse us please.

I love you to death
Hahahaha...I love you to death?Abeg abeg abeg...haba nah.You love me to my death or yours or what? Why not love me to life?Wouldn't it be better to use simple expressions like;I'll love you always,I 'll love you forever and all that instead of a complex expression like I love you to death?Oh please get serious...

How are you?
Now this is one expression that everyone uses.In fact in Naija because people can be unnecessarily sensitive about some stuff, you dare not ask an older person "how are you" in some places.Even someone whom you percieve as your mate or even younger may be offended by it.So even in corporate environment you would hear people ask how you dey?Seriously, when you ask how you dey,do you really mean to find out how that person dey for real?If the person answered you, would you have the time to listen or has "How are you" changed from being a direct question to a rhetorical question?O ma se o.

I'm Coming
I'm sure you are saying ,I'm coming? What in God's world is wrong with I'm coming or she just wants to write? No oh I don't just don't want to form writing. In obodo Naija,"I'm coming" literally means give me a moment!O yea...gotcha there. How many times have you used that expression yourself?Countless I guess.I am aslo very guilty of that but funny enough it has come to stay.I am only wondering why we are so comfortable saying one thing and truly meaning another.Methinks this affects every other area of our lives as Nigerians or whatd'yathink?

"I never made a conscious decision to grow the nails, but with all my children and the music commitments I guess it was easier to let the nails grow," she added, "Then one day I look down and they’re like 9 inches long!"
