Diamond Bank opens shop in London

Diamond Bank Plc, One of Nigeria’s commercial banks, has secured the approval of the Financial Services Authority (FSA), United Kingdom (UK) to own and operate a bank in the United Kingdom. In a statement issued by the bank, its Group Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, Dr Alex Otti, said the bank was pleased with the approval, as “it signals the conclusion of a process that started months ago.” I keep wondering what it is with their numerous colours...its too loud if you ask me....Their former brand was better biko...my opinion anyway.Congrats to them on the shop opening in UK.

Soyinka and Okigbo release joint statement on Achebe's passing...

The statement entitled “On the Passing of Chinua Achebe,” read: “For us, the loss of Chinua Achebe is, above all else, intensely personal. We have lost a brother, a colleague, a trailblazer and a doughty fighter. “Of the ‘pioneer quartet’ of contemporary Nigerian literature, two voices have been silenced – one, of the poet Christopher Okigbo, and now, the novelist Chinua Achebe. “It is perhaps difficult for outsiders of that intimate circle to appreciate this sense of depletion, but we take consolation in the young generation of writers to whom the baton has been passed, those who have already creatively ensured that there is no break in the continuum of the literary vocation. “We need to stress this at a critical time of Nigerian history, where the forces of darkness appear to overshadow the illumination of existence that literature represents. “These are forces that arrogantly pride themselves implacable and brutal enemies of what Chinua and his pen represented, not merely ...

Worlds Poetry Day 2013

Its world's poetry day!...I dedicate this poem to the Nigerian graduate. Unsure of the future after school Parades the streets of our fatherland Honoring one office after another Morosed as though escaped from drowning Embittered shoes constantly warning the cotton Never to cross its path. Adorned with garments, the iron's enemy. But so friendly to water Unproductiveness mars his reasoning Reduces his self worth Illiteracy challenges him to a duel He turns unwillingly but helplessly crude But there is the so-called favored Born with the silver spoon or is it golden? For them, black and white does the magic Leaving the former teary eyed For he wears the shoes of The real Naija graduate Oh!, how his feet hurts.

The Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) on Monday discovered a fake National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) orientation camp at Tammah village, Nassarawa Local Government Area of Nassarawa State, with 62 ‘corps members’. It was gathered that the fake camp was to operare for just a day, in which all the fake corps members would take their pictures with the NYSC crested vests and other kits and be likely issued fake certificates for future reference. The fake corps members, consisting of 44 females and 18 males, were arrested and paraded by the state commandant, Mr Andekin Amos Musa, who said that the routine surveillance of the command made the arrest possible. He added that the four drivers who conveyed them to the village, and the photographer hired for the illicit job, were also arrested. He said, “The suspected fake corps members were arrested at the outskirts of Nassarawa Town near the Government Secondary School. Investigations are still on, and as soon...

Pastor dedicates triplets after 25 years of barrenness

It was a joyful occasion for the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) in Port Harcourt, Rivers State as Soji Oni, a Provincial Pastor, dedicated a set of triplets after twenty five years of childlessness with his wife. The triplets, named Miracle, Sign and Wonder, were dedicated to God at the King’s Place Parish, Port Harcourt, headquarters of Rivers Province 2 of the RCCG. An overwhelmed Oni told a cheering congregation that it takes a man with heart and foundation built on God to patiently wait twenty five years for the fruit of the womb. He said: “Twenty five years is not twenty five days. It was a very big challenge not only as a family man but as a pastor who prays for others for the same problem and they receive. But today our prayers have been answered. “God knows our problems. I didn’t pray to have triplets but He gave one. Many families break for not being able to bear children, but we should continue to trust in the Lord no matter the challenges. Our challenges ar...

Jonathan took advice from God to pardon...Prince Arthur Eze

Arthur Eze left “What Jonathan did is what a man who fears God will do. If I have an opportunity as president of Nigeria I will do the same. All of us are human beings. What he did was correct. We are not fighting war. Jonathan took advice from God. God has told him to show mercy. The bible says blessed are those that are merciful for they shall see God” -Arthur Eze He said the American government has no right to dictate to Nigeria because Nigeria is an independent nation.

TRUE LIFE STORY: 'How I Contracted HIV' (MUST READ)

This is a true life story of Anne: I was born and brought up in a God fearing Christian family that believes in moral and religious discipline. I grew up disciplined to the extent that I never had a boyfriend till I entered the university of Port-harcourt in 2006. All my friends knew me that I am a good girl who takes no nonsense from anyone especially the guys, and for this, guys hardly approached me even though I am a very beautiful girl with everything guys desire in a woman- from curves to feminine gifts. After my first year in UNIPORT, I decided it’s time to loosen myself and enjoy my life abit, like some of my friends would say: Anne, na you holy pass, come girl flex o! I ignorantly danced to their tune by accepting to go out with James, a guy working with SAIPEM Contracting Nigeria, an oil servicing company in PH. James is charming, in fact he is every young girl’s dream guy, including most of my friends, who do tell me that I am lucky to have found a guy like James- tal...

I believe in you...

"What I've learned the hard way"  by Bob Perks ·          Don't just stop and smell the roses, touch them, look between the petals  and become the rose.          There's always plenty of time to pull over to see the rainbow.          Share whatever you have even if your friend takes more than she/ he should.          When you fall get up again and again and again.     It was never as bad as I thought it would be.          Talk is cheap, action priceless.          We are all connected.          I am somebody.          My parents were right.           Dream Big, wor...

Park and Pay in Abuja

Park and Pay Policy is outrageous and I strongly feel these characters working in those companies are glorified agberos who are being used to extort money from Abuja motorists. You are at fault, you pay and they are at fault, you pay. They are incompetent, ignorant of right and wrong and illiterates who have been convinced to steal from motorists.I am certain they are counseled to hide when a car approaches except you are lucky enough to see them first.Once you are out of sight, these daylight robbers clamp your car and demand for a fine of N5,000. Haba...lend a voice ooo.Abuja is gradually turning to what Lagos used to be..how sad!.

Benny Hinn remarries wife,Suzanne

The 60-year-old evangelist has remarried his ex-wife Suzanne in Orlando Florida. The wedding took place on the 3rd of March, 2013 in the company of top ministers of God like Roy Harthern (Suzanne’s dad), Reinhard Bonnke and Jay Hartford. The officiating ministers called their wedding a miracle after over two years of separation between them. According to Reinhard Bonnke, the miracle of this remarriage was even greater than the miracle of any marriage. Benny Hinn said nothing until the end of the ceremony when he prayed over his wife Suzanne as the visiting men of God crowded around. Benny Hinn and Suzanne’ remarriage ceremony was a traditional one. It lasted for about 2 hours. Their children and their spouses were their parents’ attendants. The Hinns have 4 children and four grandchildren. This is heart warming...Praise God.
